Senate Republicans doubled down on even deeper Medicaid cuts, further slashed SNAP and safety-net programs, and financed massive tax breaks for wealthy individuals and big corporations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Key dangers of the bill for Illinois now backed by both chambers:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Deeper Medicaid cuts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> threaten health care access for millions of children, seniors, and people with disabilities; experts warn this could result in at least 11\u201317 million Americans losing coverage<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>460,000 people in Illinois will lose health coverage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and become uninsured under the passed Reconciliation bill<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>This bill cuts Medicaid for the state of IL by an additional $5.6 billion, over the original House bill, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which the Senate expanded on and today the House passed. (from FFY 2025 through FFY 2034)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Increased health and social costs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including SNAP reductions and work requirements, will disproportionately hit low-income families.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike the original House bill which exempted all parents, <\/span><b>the bill passed today requires parents of children over 14 to meet the work requiremen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>257,000 Illinoisans will lose their health coverage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to Congress adding in a work requirement to Medicaid.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today\u2019s action is not merely procedural, it\u2019s a choice.
