Illinois Republicans Mary Miller (IL-15), Darin LaHood (IL-16), and Mike Bost (IL-12) voted for this disastrous legislation, putting the interests of billionaires and big corporations over the health and economic security of their constituents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s be clear: this bill represents the single largest rollback of health coverage in U.S. history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/the-devastating-harms-of-house-republicans-big-beautiful-bill-by-state-and-congressional-district\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawKcGO1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETEwaHA5MTZOa1hmVE5LdVpwAR4Igr0w7H_KYR1wZVzRrJR5NSmUUNSrMoPQUItgWIQ2Bf9d1wj3eBZGRhRIqQ_aem_6q8Q_6hitOHkYXKEbT-F3A\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to analysis from the Center for American Progress:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>Illinois\u2019 12th District<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Rep. Bost), over <\/span><b>43,000 people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would lose coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>Illinois\u2019 15th District<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Rep. Miller), nearly <\/span><b>44,000 people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would lose coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>Illinois\u2019 16th District<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Rep. LaHood), more than <\/span><b>52,000 people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would lose coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that\u2019s just the beginning. The bill would:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Slash Medicaid funding by over $2.5 trillion nationwide<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, threatening access for children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cut Medicare nearly $500 billion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over the next decade.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>End ACA subsidies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that help nearly <\/span><b>330,000 Illinoisans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> afford their coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Spike premiums and out-of-pocket costs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for people who buy insurance on the individual market.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reduce benefits and force cuts to hospitals and rural clinics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, especially in underserved communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Impose harsh bureaucratic red tape<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that would kick people off their coverage simply because of paperwork errors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Republicans jammed this bill through just ten days after it was introduced and made major changes just hours before the vote \u2014 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">without a single committee hearing or full analysis of the consequences.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This bill will only become more toxic as Americans discover how much harm it will do to our health coverage, our healthcare, and our health costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No one campaigned on kicking millions off health insurance or gutting Medicaid, but that\u2019s exactly what Reps. Miller, LaHood, and Bost just voted for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is not fiscal responsibility \u2014 it\u2019s cruelty wrapped in a budget bill. It\u2019s a direct attack on pregnant women, children, people with disabilities, veterans, and rural communities who rely on the very care this bill puts on the chopping block. Meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy and big corporations walk away with massive tax breaks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protect Our Care Illinois, together with our entire coalition, stands with the millions of families, patients, and providers across our state who are sounding the alarm. This fight isn\u2019t over.
